cartilage transplantation

If all the meniscal tissue has been lost, meniscal transplant is an option.  Donor meniscal tissue or allograft is sourced from regulated tissue banks.  For transplantation, the meniscal tissue does not require patients to take medications to prevent rejection.  They are essentially inert by comparison to organ transplants for instance they avoid disease transmission, tests are carried out and the reported incidence appears to be lower than that of having a blood transfusion.  Lots of effort is made to try and size match patients with various imaging techniques using radiographs or x-rays.
